FAQ's

Gonstead Chiropractic is a specific, hands-on approach that focuses on detailed analysis of your spine and pelvis before any adjustment is given. Instead of “cracking everywhere”, we identify the exact segment that is misaligned, how it affects your nerves and movement, and then apply a precise, controlled adjustment only where needed.

Yes. Our care at The Hub is sports-focused. We regularly see clients who lift weights, run, play court sports, or train in group classes. Gonstead adjustments help restore proper joint motion and alignment, which can support better performance, reduce overload on certain areas, and lower the risk of repeated injuries.

We commonly see people with:
  • Lower back pain from lifting or long sitting
  • Neck and shoulder tightness from desk work and training
  • Hip pain, pelvic imbalance and sciatica
  • Mid-back stiffness affecting breathing and overhead movements
  • Knee discomfort related to loading and biomechanics
  • General stiffness or “one side always tighter” issues
Your chiropractor will assess if your case is suitable for chiropractic care or if referral is needed.

Not everyone needs X-rays. We recommend X-rays only when clinically necessary – for example, if you have a history of trauma, long-standing pain, or certain red-flag symptoms. When required, X-rays help us understand your spinal structure more clearly so we can adjust you safely and accurately.

Chiropractic is generally very safe when performed by a trained, registered chiropractor. We take a thorough history and assessment to make sure you are suitable for care. Some people may experience mild soreness, similar to post-workout muscle soreness, which usually resolves within 24–48 hours. Serious complications are rare, and we always prioritise your safety.

In many cases, yes. Our goal is to keep you as active as possible. Your chiropractor will advise you on what to modify, what to avoid temporarily, and what movements are still safe. For some injuries or acute phases, we may recommend reducing load or changing certain exercises while your body recovers.

This varies from person to person. Factors include how long the problem has been there, your lifestyle, work demands, training load and overall health. Some clients feel changes within a few sessions, while more chronic or complex cases may require a longer corrective plan. We will discuss realistic expectations and review your progress along the way.

Your first visit includes a detailed consultation about your symptoms, sport and lifestyle, followed by posture and movement checks, orthopaedic and neurological tests, and spinal assessment. If suitable, you may receive your first Gonstead adjustment and a simple plan for training, recovery and follow-up care.

Sometimes you may hear or feel a “pop” during an adjustment. This is usually just gas releasing from the joint as it moves, similar to cracking your knuckles. The sound is not the measure of success – the most important part is the specific direction, contact and control of the adjustment.

No referral is needed in most cases. You can book directly with us. If you already have X-rays or MRI reports, feel free to bring them along. If we suspect that imaging or medical referral is necessary, we will let you know and guide you on the next steps before continuing care.
